What is the difference between chemistry and chemical technology?

Chemists are more likely to develop novel materials and processes, while chemical engineers are more likely to take these material and processes and make them longer or more efficiently.

I guess chemists are more on research and chemical technology/engineers are more likely involved in new development or innovation. Does it make any sense?
